All descendants of Pierre Chastain are invited to the 34th annual reunion of the family association, September 24-26, 2009. If you share any of the common spelling variations: Chasteen, Chastaine, Chastine, Shasteen, Chasten, Castine or Shastid you can claim the family name. If you have these names in your family lineage please read below!

The Pierre Chastain Family Association will gather this year in Siloam Springs, Arkansas. Siloam Springs was settled by a multitalented German named Simon Sager whose daughter married Jehu Thomas Chastain and thus the Chastain family helped develop the beautiful area that is now Siloam Springs.

The Quality Inn will be the headquarters for the reunion (1300 Hwy. 412). A block of rooms has been set aside for the association at $65 per night (breakfast included). The number is: 479-524-8080. Be sure and inform them that you are reserving a room for the Pierre Chastain Association.

Activities include, on Friday a walking tour of historical downtown Siloam Springs; Friday night a bar-b-cue at the J. D. Chastain home with the annual business meeting afterward. Saturday morning’s schedule will allow visits to the Fairmount cemetery and to the cabin of Simon Sager on the campus of John Brown University.

You may find further information on the PCFA web site: http://pierrechastain.com or you may contact the Publicity Chair, Carrie Chastain at the telephone number or e-mail address above. Registration forms sent upon request. August 31st is the closing date for reservations including motel, bar-b-cue and banquet.

A family membership in the Association is $20 annually. To join, contact Susan Slape-Hoysagk, 92012 Hagen Dr. Astoria, OR 97103.

  1. Wish I had heard of this earlier. I have family in Arkansas and would have been able to attend.
