In 1969 Columbus Residents Reacted to Moon Landing

In honor of the 40th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing, below is an excerpt from an article published in The Commercial Dispatch on July 21, 1969, recounting how Columbus citizens reacted to the news:

“-Robert Lowe, 73-year-old retired railroad worker feels ‘It’s hard to say exactly how I feel. Guess I just feel good. Glad we beat ’em there. The Russians…and the Germans, too.’
-A 45-year-old postal employee, Ed Taylor, says, ‘Fabulous, America has set the pace in leadership of all mankind. I’m just real proud.’
-Joe Cook coach, Scott Murrah states ‘It’s the most fantastic thing I’ll ever see. I just had to take a special look at the moon last night and realize there were two men up there. Unbelievable.’
-Polly Bennett, 28-year-old secretary says ‘It’s amazing, but I knew we could do it.’
-‘I’m looking forward to the second moon trip’, says 7-year-old Christopher Webster, ‘because I’m going to be on that ship. I think it would be fun to be on the moon.'”

Now I’m just curious if anyone knows Christopher Webster? Did he ever make it to the moon?!
