Basics of Archiving Workshop in Oxford

This workshop for small to mid-size organizations with historical materials will be held at the J. D. Williams Library in Oxford on December 4, 2009.

Developed and taught by Greg Johnson, University of Mississippi associate professor and blues curator, the work-shop will provide essential information about collections acquisition, evaluation, processing, access, and preservation.

Each participant will receive a notebook of forms and helpful information, and lunch will be provided.

Registration is $30.00, payable to J.D. Williams Library.

Space is limited; registration is required and there will be no on-site registration.

The workshop is co-sponsored by the Mississippi Historical Records Advisory Board, with funding from the National Historical Publications and Records Commission; and the Archival Training Collaborative, a grant project to establish a sustainable program of affordable archival training opportunities for staff and volunteers in historical repositories in Louisiana, Mississippi, and Alabama, which is funded by the Institute for Museum and Library Services.
