Another Lowndes County Woman Highlighted

Mrs. Mollie Ervin

“Mrs. Mollie Ervin served as leader and president of the Women’s Christian Temperance Union of Mississippi. She was outstanding in this field of work, leaving home and loved ones to carry the message of Temperance into every hamlet of Mississippi.

She followed conviction rather than convention, with whom, from her childhood, “the tradition of the elders,” has weighed light against the inner voice, that whispers the direct command of the master…with all this realization of the unseen realities on which life and character are built, Mary Ervin possessed a buoyancy and joyousness of spirit, a warmth and tenderness of nature, that carried fun and sunny hope everywhere.

Work for Souls has been her joy, and many there are “for her hire,” who say, “Mrs. Ervin pointed out our Lord and I followed Him.”
