BREWER METHODIST CHURCH IS PUBLISHING A HISTORICAL BOOK

History of 6 churches, Shannon Charge Information, 3 Cemeteries, Brewer School and pictures of 76 families and descendants. Book has 1120 pages with over 1750 pictures in black & White.

Brewer United Methodist Church, believed to have started as McDonald’s Chapel 1850’s, then Bethel, & Center Grove. Alphabetical registry listing starting in 1903, history, & pictures of churches starting 1899. Marriage registry 1915-1935.

Shannon Charge information including a list of churches in the Charge that were listed in the quarterly report starting in 1890 –1907. An alphabetical list of all names that were listed in this report, including persons who joined the churches, deaths, & baptisms. Pastor section including 1869-2010 pastor list, available pictures of pastors. Scout pictures 1930-2009.

Shannon United Methodist Church starting in 1869, history, pictures, pastor list from 1869, a 1916 group church picture identified with names & marriage registry 1919- 1943.

Pleasant Grove United Methodist Church started in 1859 (Closed 1990’s). History & pictures of church, & cemetery. Marriage registry 1919- 1922 Brewer Baptist Church, formally known as Old Chapel, Bethel & Oakhill. History, pastor list from 1900, pictures of church from 1917 -2010. Picture of the house where the church was organized in 1900. Church met at this house until the church was built. .

Shannon First Baptist Church History 1868 -1968, pictures, pastor list.

History of Christians in this area from 1540-1964 prepared by Rev Ulvie Fitts for 1964 Lee County Baptist Association Meeting (permission to publish from the wife of Rev. Fitts). Most of document pertains to the Baptist History.

Pine Springs Presbyterian Church & Cemetery, also known as Harmony, & Shannon Presbyterian USA (closed 1930). List of known graves in this cemetery. Excerpts of minutes from 1839, and alphabetical registry 1839-1920.

History of organized Old Union Community Presbyterian Church, late 1930’s-1960, with members from previous church. Names of the known members listed in the history.

History of three cemeteries:

Old Chapel (Pettey, McDonald’s Chapel) 1850’s-2009. History of the cemetery and site map. Alphabetical & site listing of all known graves. Twelve pages of known history related to persons who are buried here. Pictures from the early 1920’s to 2008, including some markers and memorial pictures.

Brewer Methodist Church Cemetery, 1946-2009. Site map, alphabetical listing & site listing. History and pictures.

Stern- English (abandoned) 1841- to late 1800’s One marker with information of mother & child buried here in 1841. Some information on others said to be buried here. Pictures include the lone marker left and a Red Oak Tree said to be 238 years old, and listed as a champion of trees. Cemetery is in the middle of Lee County School property purchased in 2008-09, for a future school.

Military Section.

War 1812-2009. Alphabetical list, some history of persons in this section related to their military duty. 100 pages of pictures including some of battles in the South Pacific, planes, bombed out buildings in Germany. Picture of one person that was in the War 1812.

Brewer School history & pictures from late 1800’s 1953. Includes Sports Section with pictures 1920’s- present.

Memory Section. Pictures of how we lived, worked & played. Many old landmarks and a way of life gone forever.

Seventy six Families & descendants from 1830’s-2009. Over 600 pages of family pictures.
