New Hours for the Local History Room

Hours in the Local History Room have been extended.  The Billups-Garth Archives located within the Local History Room will now be open later on Wednesday and Thursday as well as the first and third Saturday of every month.

The following are the new hours for the Billups-Garth Archives:

Monday
9am-5pm

Tuesday
9am-6pm

Wednesday
9am-6pm

Thursday
9am-6pm

Friday
9am-2pm

Saturday (1st and 3rd)
10am-4pm

Be sure to always check the library website at www.lowndes.lib.ms.us for any changes to the Saturday hours in the Billups-Garth Archives.

For example, the Saturday hours for this upcoming November will be the first and second Saturday (the 6th and 13th) rather than the first and third.

Archivist Mona K. Vance said, “By offering varied hours, we hope to allow greater access for local residents as well as out-of-town guests who otherwise would not be able to conveniently access the immense records and histories located within the Billups-Garth Archives.”

The hours for the main Columbus library have also changed:

Monday
9am-7pm

Tuesday
9am-7pm

Wednesday
9am-7pm

Thursday
9am-7pm

Friday
9am-2pm

Saturday
10am-4pm
