Photographs of First Christian Church donated

Five photographs of First Christian Church from March 1968 were recently donated (accession # 2012-15).

Formerly located at 531 Second Avenue North (near the Lowndes County Courthouse), the First Christian Church was organized in 1839 and the church erected around 1850. The building served as the meeting place of the Mississippi House of Representatives during the Civil War. In 1958, the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterways Agreement was signed there. The site is now a parking lot.
