The Columbus-Lowndes Public Library has your perfect holiday gift!

8806COLUcip.inddLooking for that special gift for the holidays and want something unique?  Try Images of America: Columbus by Mona K. Vance on behalf of the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library. The book boasts more than 200 vintage images of Columbus and shares memories of days gone by.

Published by Arcadia Publishing, the book includes photographs of local families, businesses, churches, clubs, buildings, schools, celebrations, events, government, people, entertainment, homes, and more.  The earliest images date to the 1860s.

Did you know that baseball player Joe DiMaggio visited Columbus in 1962?  What about the over 40 elephants and 20 camels that once marched down Main Street in 1908?  Had you heard that in 1940 temperatures dipped to eight degrees below zero freezing the Tombigbee River solid?

If not, consider sharing these stories and more with friends and family this holiday season.

Images of America: Columbus is available at the Columbus-Lowndes Public Library for $19.

To find out more about purchasing the book at the library call 662-329-5300.
